Dr. Felecia M. Nave is Alcorn State University’s 20th President and first female president in the school’s history. A 1996 Alcorn alum, Dr. Nave returns with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, a master’s degree in chemical and environmental engineering, a doctorate in engineering, and nearly 17 years of proven success as an innovative educator and leader in complex collegiate environments. Dr. Nave is skilled in developing strategic approaches that lead to sustainable efforts and brings that expertise, combined with a personal connection and commitment to Alcorn, to her role as President. In 2003 Dr. Nave began her academic tenure at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) as a tenure-track associate professor. During her 15 years at PVAMU, she successfully matriculated through the academic levels to earn the rank of full professor of Chemical Engineering and advanced into administrative leadership roles, notably as Provost & Sr. Vice President for Academic Affairs from 2014-2017. In 2018 Dr. Nave was appointed Provost & Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at North Carolina Central University where she functioned as the chief academic officer. Dr. Nave is honored to begin her presidency as we embark on Alcorn’s historic 150th year. She plans to develop and support programs that solidify the university’s position as a leader amongst elite HBCUs. Dr. Nave and her husband, Mr. Tracie Nave, met at Alcorn as undergraduate students. They are the proud parents of four children: Jaylon, Justin, Kennedy, and Jonathan.

Delegates are requested to provide their own academic regalia.


Special maps will guide you to the Alcorn campus and reserved parking. GPS address is 1000 Asu Dr, Lorman, MS 39096, United States


Reserved parking will be provided for college and university delegates at the Davey L. Whitney HPER Complex parking lot convenient to the delegates’ entrance into the Complex. Security personnel and signage in place to direct you.  Accessible parking is available on a first-come first serve basis. General parking will be available in the stadium parking lot, new parking lot and Ag Extension.


A secure room will be provided for robing and personal belongings that will be staffed during the inaugural event. The Delegates robing will take place in Room #116 of the Davey L. Whitney HPER Complex located on the ground level. Directional Signage and ushers/hosts will be available to assist with room location.


All delegates in the academic procession are expected to wear academic attire. If you do not have a cap and gown, please contact the school or organization you are representing so that they may provide you with the necessary academic regalia.


Robing will begin at 8:00 a.m. Each delegate will have an assigned position in the procession according to the year of founding of his/her institution. We ask that you be robed no later than 9:00 a.m. so that we can assure the appropriate order of the procession. Alcorn State University staff members will be available to assist you.

The Inaugural Procession will form at 9:45 a.m. and begin the processional promptly at 9:50 a.m. We anticipate the ceremony concluding at 12:00 Noon.


Following the ceremony, we invite all guests to join us at a community celebration located on the upper level or under the tent across from the Davey L. Whitney HPER Complex.
